You’ve booked your flights, your holiday accommodation looks stunning and now you’re facing the task of being ruthless and packing only what you need to take. However, when it comes down to it, most of us are terrible at packing light when taking a holiday or long trip. The rise of low cost airlines has forced many of us to be extra vigilant when packing thanks to high penalties for going over the baggage allowance, however packing light doesn’t mean you can’t still look your best when you go away. We’ve put together some top tips for choosing which designer items to pack for your capsule holiday wardrobe.
Dresses
You should always pack at least one casual and one smart dress, as you should have something that you can slip into for evening wear or a special dinner. For your capsule holiday wardrobe, two casual dresses and one smart dress should do just fine. When it comes to choosing a dress for evening wear, you cannot go wrong with the classic little black dress – and the best thing about this is that you can dress it up with various accessories and wear it more than once with nobody ever suspecting a thing.
Swimsuits
You should always have a flattering and comfortable swimsuit and something to wear over it on the beach such as a kaftan or sarong. One or two comfortable swimsuits should suffice for your capsule holiday wardrobe, and whether you choose a full one-piece or a two-piece bikini or tankini set is entirely down to your personal choice. Choose coordinating items to wear over the top. A good idea is to choose one or two cover-up items that are neutral colours such as white or cream, so that you can wear them with either of your swimsuits. If you are taking two-piece swim suits, it’s a good idea to go for two different styles that co-ordinate with each other so that you have four different looks to choose from.
Accessories
When it comes to choosing which accessories to pack in your capsule holiday wardrobe, functionality and safety are the key features which you should consider. When choosing which handbags to take, you will need one large beach bag which you can use for every day, and a smaller clutch-style bag to pair with your evening dress for those special occasions. Consider the casual dresses and swimwear that you are taking when you choose the colour and style of your beach bag. It’s a good idea to opt for one that is a colour which will go with pretty much anything, such as white or even black. Sunglasses are an essential item to pack, and for extra protection you may also want to take a sun hat. Designer sunglasses from Prada are an excellent luxury choice of sunglass that you can’t go wrong with.
