Utah, Bryce Canyon

(3 photos)
It’s not really proper to say Bryce Canyon is more scenic than Grand Canyon — they are both fantastic, but different. At Bryce you can get so close to that beauty, but the Grand is so huge about all you can do is look and look. As I keep looking at my thousands of slides, I am sure I will find many more photos of Bryce.

One winter day we were driving home from Salt Lake City, or somewhere in that area, when we saw the road leading to Bryce was freshly plowed of snow, we turned and visited for the manyith time. And what a view. Everything was covered with snow, they had used a skip-loader to plow parking spots at the motel (which had been snowed-in and closed for a week), and the snow was higher than the car. We went snow-shoeing to the edge of the canyon. We had to be very careful as it was difficult to see where the ground ended and the canyon began.

One year three of Emmy’s cousins visited from Germany. We rented a 35 foot RV and took them up the coast from LA to Frisco, then to Yosemite, Death Valley, Las Vegas, Zion National Park, then to Bryce. I felt maybe this was getting tiresome for the elderly travelers, but when I asked, Toni replied, ”This is so beautiful I could cry.”
