Trier, Staircase

Trier, Staircase.jpg

Trier’s Constantine Basilika, in what had been the Roman Imperial Palace, built by Emperor Constantine in 310 AD, has been a Protestant church for about 1,000 years. Just outside the entrance, and connecting to the park, and to the next door Kurfürstlicher Palast (Palace), this staircase is of course almost a couple of millennium newer than the Basilika.

We have never seen such a combination of steps and wheel-chair ramp, anywhere else in our travels. There are two sets of steps, and three sections of the ramp. Look closely, it’s really unique.
