Pisa, Bells in Torre Pendente

The Leaning Tower is of an interesting design. It's round, eight stories, 163 feet high, with a 294 step circular staircase built inside the tower wall. At each floor of Pisa’s Tower we could go outside on the balcony and walk around the tower. We were very careful — there were no handrails, and the marble is extremely slick. In the early 1990s they closed the tower for foundation repair, and in December 2001, the tower was reopened to the Public.
At the very top of Pisa’s Leaning Tower, the Belfry contains seven bells that weigh a total of about 12 tons. Each bell has its own name and story, and they were cast to reproduce the seven musical notes.
