Vignettes from Jim and Emmy's years of travel

Acrocorinth

GR_Acrocorinth.jpg

We drove from Corinth to Acrocorinth, on the far side of a mountain, and climbed most of the way to the top. Many of the stones were very slippery, the path was very steep. There are three gates in Acrocorinth (part of the third gate was built in the 4th century BC), each one higher up the side of the mountain, and the wall runs up and down the mountain side. The climb was backbreaking, the pathway was rough, and with the weather looking chancy, we didn’t go to the very top.

We often wished we had walked the rest of the way to the Acrocorinth, but long before we reached the mountain top, we were so tired we didn’t want to take the chance of being caught in the heavy rainstorm that soon appeared.
