Vignettes from Jim and Emmy's years of travel

Little Countries Campsites

Campsites,Andorra,Liechtenstein

Andorra

As we approached Andorra (from France), we saw multi-level waterfalls, snow capped Pyrénées mountains, and many snow sheds over the highway. Today is the end of a three day holiday, so at the border we found a long line of cars coming back into France, but very few leaving. After we crossed the first high mountain pass, we were in heavy fog. At Encamp we found a nice campsite, and slept well, in spite of the weather.

Andorra seems to exist in deep valleys, with some towns hanging on the adjacent hills, and only one narrow crowded highway for all the traffic. We drove through little villages, and on to Villa de Andorra the capital of the country. There was a campsite right in downtown, so we checked in early so Emmy could rest, and I could go walking in the rain.

Liechtenstein

We found the Liechtenstein border was manned by the Swiss, and they use Swiss money. The border control charged 50¢ to stamp our passport, if we happened to want the Liechtenstein stamp as a souvenir. In a country this small, it was easy to find the campsite, just outside of Vaduz, the capital city of Liechtenstein. We visited here another year, but not overnight.
