Foot Stool
1555
In Ribeauville, in the French Alsace, there is an antique store we have visited several times, One year Emmy bought a little wooden foot-stool, about 10 inches by 14 inches and 8 inches high, with tapestry fabric on the top. Here again, the Emmy spending delay was not quite momentary. We saw the foot stool in this store one year, and when we visited another year, she couldn’t resist. We didn’t say all this was great wonderful stuff, we just say, “She loved it, and we bought it.”
In May 1980, in this antique store Emmy saw a little corner table she liked, but didn’t buy it right then. She said if it still is there when we come back this way, later this year, she will buy it. Well, we stopped again in October, and the corner table had been sold.
As it says in our Travel Journal, “In one of the Ribeauville’s town squares there is a church with a multi-colored design in the roof, and next door is the antique store where Emmy dreams a lot, and spends a little.”
