Vignettes from Jim and Emmy's years of travel

Hawaii

Hawaii, Kauai, Fern Grotto

HawaiiFernGrotto.jpg
The Fern Grotto, accessible only by a short boat trip with Smith's Motor Boat Service, up the Wailua River. The cave is cloaked with ferns and cooled by the mists of a waterfall

Smith's Motor Boat Service was started in 1946, with a small rowboat and a borrowed outboard motor. Generations later, Grandpa's tradition is continued, sharing his love of Kauai and its rich cultural heritage. During the short ride they sing songs and tell stories of Hawaii. There is a short nature walk through the rain forest to the lush Fern Grotto and you will hear a beautiful rendition of the "Hawaiian Wedding Song."
