Vignettes from Jim and Emmy's years of travel

Yosemite National Park

Yosemite, Wanona Tunnel Tree

This photo was taken about 40 years ago, and the tree, which had been tunneled in 1881, finally fell during a snowstorm in 1968, two or three years after these photos were snapped.

The Wawona Tree was approximately 2100 years old, 234 feet high. The famous tunnel was 7 feet wide, 9 feet high and 26 feet long at the base. That was large enough for us to drive our car through the tunnel, but we had to park and unhook our travel trailer, as it wouldn’t fit.
=============
Another view, same visit, same year. That is our almost brand new, 1965 Oldsmobile.
