Amelia Earhart's Desk
(2 photos)
We have a desk in our home, called “Louis XV Rococo Revival Desk with Chair.”
We have a "snapshot" from a Video of a TV program showing Amelia Earhart sitting at this exact desk, or at least a copy. The desk is unique enough, and the video is plain enough—there is no doubt, but it also doesn’t matter beyond trivia.
We bought the desk at an Estate Sale in Palm Desert, Calif. for a couple of hundred dollars, 25 years ago. About 20 years ago, we sent a photo to an Antique Appraiser, and a response was printed in the local newspaper. “The style of your desk is Louis XV Rocco Revival. It is an early 20th century reproduction of a French 18th century Louis XV desk. It would probably be worth a couple thousand dollars.” Well, since it’s not for sale, it makes no difference.

We sailed on the ship, called the Enna G , for several weeks, visiting islands in the Pacific Ocean. While in Saipan we visited a prison where Amelia Earhart had been held prisoner. One time I taped a TV program about her, so imagine our surprise when we saw Amelia sitting at our desk, or at least a copy of our desk.
This is a "snapshot" from a Video of that TV program. The desk is unique enough, and the video is plain enough, at least on a large TV set — there is no doubt, but it also doesn’t matter beyond trivia.
