Vignettes from Jim and Emmy's years of travel

Italy

Venice, Giovinazzo, Fishing Boats

Venice, Fishing boat.jpg

Everything in Venice moves by boat, and of course fishing, and delivery of fish to the market is done in a boat. For this fishing boat, those large round objects in the front and back of the boat, are bright propane gas lights, used to attract whatever kind of sea-food they are trying to catch. We never found out which creature was fatally attracted by those lights.

==========
In the harbors of Giovinazzo and Molfetta (located near Bari, in Italy’s “heel”), we also found small boats equipped with huge lights positioned to shine into the water.
