Sirmione, Money Exchange

Money exchange.jpg

Situated on the Sirmio peninsula, a narrow finger of land that extends into Lake Garda’s south shore, Sirmione is quite a tourist destination. Dozens of stores, hotels, and restaurants of one kind or another, await their arrival. We remember the very nice, very polite and helpful young lady at the tourist office (in the mid-1980s) who said her father at one time owned an Italian restaurant in Marburg, Germany.

In Sirmione we found a money exchange machine that would accept German, French, Austrian, or Swiss money, and return Italian Lire. Since the money from each country was so different in size and color, there was a separate slot for each. We haven’t traveled since the Euro came into fashion, so don’t know what you would find today.
