Venice, Clothes pins

It’s interesting to see the Venicians have the world’s greatest clothes pins. Laundry is hung everywhere, especially on lines connected with pulleys, that cross the canals, from building to building. A piece of clothing is pinned to the clothesline, the rope is pulled, another item is pinned, and on and on.

The most amazing thing is, during our seven visits to Venice from 1970 to 1995, we have seen hundreds of clothes lines in Venice filled with thousands of items of clothing, but we have never seen even one piece that had fallen into a canal.
