Píli, White Goat

We stopped in Píli to see a narrow high-arch medieval stone arched bridge over the Portaiko river, which was built in 1514. There are many sheep and goats in the area, and it's easy to see they will continue to be in Píli, as there are “seeds” all over the bridge!
This time when we bought fuel, the service-station man not only washed the windows, he directed traffic so we could safely get back onto the very busy road.
The road went around the hill where Fanári and its castle were perched on the hill. The town looked rather modern, and the castle looked like, well looked like a castle. Not nearly as many castles here, as in northern Europe. From just below Fanári, we looked over a gorgeous panorama of farm land, like nothing else we have seen in Greece. It reminded us of the view overlooking the San Joaquin Valley, as northbound Interstate 5 heads down the mountain to Bakersfield, California.
