Filipi (Philippi)

GR_Filipi_Philippi_ruin.jpg

The little modern town of Filipi (Philippi) does not amount to much, but the ruins of the old town are excellent. One of the most inspiring, and with about the most amount of “ruins” still standing, of any in Greece. Philippi does not compare at all to Ephesus in Turkey, but there are more ruins to see here, then in places like Delfi and old Kórinthos.

On this Sunday morning a tour bus pulled up, a group of German tourists got out, assembled on some benches, sang some hymns, then listened to a sermon, right where the Apostle Paul must have preached.
