Vignettes from Jim and Emmy's years of travel

Paris, Sainte - Chapelle

Sainte_Chapelle_Upper_Cha.jpg

Built in the mid-1200's, this small gothic chapel, near Notre Dame Cathedral and surrounded by the Palais of Justice, is an inspiring visual experience. This view, looking towards the front of the Upper Chapel, shows some of the sixteen stained glass windows, nearly fifty feet high, with 6,672 square feet of the most outstanding stained glass. Eleven hundred thirty-four different scenes from the Bible are portrayed, and when the sun shines through those marvelous windows, jewels of color embellish the old stone floor.

Amazingly, in seven hundred years no cracks have appeared, and no problems with the construction have occurred.
