Míkonos, Peter the pelican

GR_Mikonos_Peter.jpg

About the most famous resident on Míkonos was Peter the pelican. By far the largest pelican we have seen, he just made himself at home, went into stores (they chased him out), and in general sort of ran the place.

Nearly 20 years later I talked to a man who had recently visited Míkonos, and he said that Peter the pelican was still running the town. But I wonder if it could be the same pelican.

On our second visit to Míkonos on the SS Odysseus, I had a haircut that cost about $12. On the wall of the barber shop in Míkonos were large pictures of both John and Bobby Kennedy. Having my hair cut by a Greek barber was not unusual, for many years my barber at home was a Greek who was born in Cyprus. Some years ago he was also the barber for one of the more well known Greeks in America, Spyro Agnew.
