Germany

Berlin, Cathedral, from above

The Fernsehturm, the TV tower, the highest structure in Berlin, is one of Berlin's biggest attractions. Its total height is 1200 feet, the viewing platform and revolving restaurant are at a height of 600 feet. The tip of the tower is formed by a 350 feet television antenna.

The view from the tower is excellent, and among the beautiful building we saw, was Berlin’s Protestant Cathedral, “… den neubarocken Dom …,” “The new baroque Cathedral.” Completed about 1905 and set afire by a direct hit by a bomb in 1944, this cathedral was extensively damaged in WW II. Repairs and restoration of the exterior took place in the 1950s, and the late 1970s to early 1980s. In our opinion, it’s the most beautiful building in the city.
