Bad Doberan, Cathedral

D_Bad _Doberan_Cathedral.jpg

The cathedral in Bad Doberan, an impressive brick building, is regarded as one of the more beautiful buildings of north German brick gothic. It was built as a monastery church and completed in 1386. The interior furnishings date from the 14th century, especially impressive are the altars, the choir stalls, and the organ pipes.

In the weeks just before the Berlin Wall fell, Bad Doberan’s citizens gathered here each evening to pray for the Government to let the people go.
