Venice, Santa Maria della Salute

(2 photos)

The beautiful church, Santa Maria della Salute (Our Lady of Health), one of the more beautiful of the 130 churches in Venice, is seen here from the campanile in front of St. Mark’s Cathedral. Walk away from St. Mark’s, pass (if you can) the Häagen-Dazs store, cross the Accademia Bridge then turn left and walk to the end of the peninsula (Punte della Salute), just a little to the west, and across the Grand Canal from St. Mark’s Square. By the way, the Guggenheim Museum, with the Peggy Guggenheim collection, is located on the Grand Canal, between the Accademia Bridge and the church.

The Tourist Information office is located right in the inside corner of the “L” shape building in St. Mark’s Square, at the lower right of this photo.
