Hawaii, Kauai, The Rocky Coast

As we stood on the shore of Kauai we found this view to be exceptional, so I climbed onto a protruding flat rock, and took this snapshot. A few months after arriving home, I played tennis with a guest at a local hotel, and she was the editor of a travel magazine of some since forgotten name. Since we had traveled a lot, she gave me a copy of her publication.
Surprise of all surprises, the picture on the cover was of exactly the same scene as this photo. She was as amazed as we were — so we used a magnifying glass to compare twigs on the tree and rocks on the shore. We determined the magazine cover photographer had stood within a few feet (on the same rock) of where I stood, and obviously within a very short time (by comparing the twigs on the tree) of when we had been there. Isn’t it a shame that sometime in the 25 years since, that copy of the magazine disappeared from our file, and its name has disappeared from our memory.
