Grindelwald

Near Grindelwald, at the foot of the Jungfrau and three or four other outstanding snow capped peaks, the mountain scenery was about as outstanding as it gets. We looked at a couple of campgrounds, since it was off-season they weren’t crowded, so we picked the one with the best view from our window. We rang the door bell at the office, a window opened on the second floor, a very nice man stuck his head out the window, told us to help ourselves, and said he would see us tomorrow.

In the meadow next door there was a herd of cows, and what looked like a black goat and a white goat standing is such a manner as to look like only one. When the cows and the goat moved, we found the goat was black in the front half, and white in the back half. That’s right, color changed half way between the front and back legs of the goat, as exact as if it wore white pants and a black shirt. On the internet is says, “Alpine Dairy goat colors are described by using the following terms: Cou Noir (coo nwah) literally "black neck" - Black front quarters and white hindquarters.”
